New Earth Midwifery is a homebirth practice offering many services for pregnancy including prenatal care, homebirth, waterbirth, postpartum and breastfeeding support to families in Sacramento and surrounding communities.

Our midwife, Tuesday Benavidez-Knight, RN, CNM is a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife. Her experience in attending women in various birth environments including hospital, birth center and home has prepared her to safely midwife women at their homebirths.

During your pregnancy you will enjoy hour-long prenatal visits with your midwife. At these appointments all your questions and concerns are discussed at length. This quality prenatal care includes an assessment of mother and baby at every visit in addition to guidance and information on parenting, breastfeeding, nutrition and much more. The trust built between the family and the midwife is very important as it contributes to the safe environment a woman needs during her labor.
The advantage of homebirth is that the midwife provides the laboring woman with all the elements she needs in order for her labor to progress as naturally and effectively as possible. The ideal environment is quiet, and in an area of privacy where the mother feels safe, undisturbed and free to follow her instincts.  The midwife may offer massage, words of encouragement or a warm water tub to ease the pain. Labor can be faster and less painful when a woman is in a protected atmosphere of trust and serenity such as her home. Additionally, the birth experience for the newborn, the mother and the family is one of Peace, Triumph and Exuberance.
