As a Postpartum Doula I support and nurture my clients in a variety of ways. I provide non-medical support, both physical and emotional. I also offer breastfeeding support and light household duties after the birth of your baby.
I believe what new families need the most is rest, nurturing, and support and I do this by providing that support where needed. I help families adjust to their new responsibilities as a growing family; facilitating newborn care techniques by helping you align with your natural parenting skills.
My formal training includes a yearlong Midwifery course at Sag Femme in Santa Cruz, California (1995-96). I am also a trained Labor Doula under Stacy Thompson at Nurture in Santa Cruz (1996). I’m trained through Doulas of North America (DONA) as a Postpartum Doula (2006) and Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA) as a lactation educator (2007).
My personal experience includes both a Caesarean and two Vaginal Births After Cesarean (VBAC). I’ve experienced postpartum hemorrhaging and dealt with my own newborn’s health problems after a difficult birth. I have a deep understanding of a woman’s need for support during postpartum recovery, as well as the entire family’s need for help and guidance during this transformative time.
I believe there are many ways to care for babies. I offer non-judgmental solutions to the myriad of baby/family related issues.
