The Birth Center

The Birth Center opened its doors to the community in April 2000 to offer women a natural, alternative birth place. The Birth Center offers a safe and supportive place for women and their families who choose a birth experience in the comfort of a home-like atmosphere with the professional, experienced, and qualified care of owner and certified nurse midwife, Ruth Cummings, and her support staff.

The Birth Center’s mission is to create a place for listening and relationship building, where control belongs to the families, and where choices are honored—to create a place where safety for those served is the highest priority. Pregnancy and birth are normal, healthy events in the life of a family; as such, families should be treated with respect and acknowledged as capable of making choices fitting their lifestyles and values.

Alternative adjuncts to labor are used such as water for labor and birth, homeopathic remedies, staying upright and mobile throughout labor, drinking and eating as desired and one on one support throughout labor and birth.

Well woman /annual exams are also part of the care offered by The Birth Center staff.

Most PPO insurances, Medi-Cal, and cash are accepted payment methods.
